National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
January 11, 2012
As of 2010, the National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) Initiative could finally boast a Presidential commitment to thwart this epidemic in minority communities through the development of a National HIV/AIDS Strategy that included increased funding for the Minority AIDS Initiative http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/02/07/let-s-make-national-black-hivaids-awareness-day-a-day-action. NBHAAD was developed to nationalize a community mobilization strategy for HIV Prevention among African Americans through education, testing, advocacy, and treatment. AQE served as a founding member of the NBHAAD Initiative, currently retains the trademark and registration for NBHAAD, and holds a seat on its Strategic Leadership Council.
