February 21, 2010

In September 2009, AQE was awarded a contract to assist the DHHS/Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR)/Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations (OPEO) with the development of a Medical Care and Operations Compendium for H1N1 Response to aid in curtailing the impact of a H1N1 outbreak during the 2009/2010 flu season and to assist the medical community with H1N1 preparedness. DHHS/ASPR/OPEO released H1N1 Compendium: A Resource for H1N1-Specific Response Guidance on the http://www.flu.gov Web site. The compendium provides specific recommendations, consultation, and guidance on various matters, including: hospital best practices, hospital intervention trigger points for pandemic responses, H1N1 intervention guidance, screening guidelines, and equipment/supply recommendations. The compendium also emphasizes the development of strategies and recommendations that are easily disseminated to and followed by clinical practitioners, local and state public health authorities, local communities, and the general public.
